St Clair Organizations to Hold Mayoral Debate – Oct 15, 7:00 pm – Oakwood Collegiate

Toronto: MyStClair.com, the Regal Heights Village BIA and the St Clair West Revitalization Committee (SWRC) will be sponsoring a mayoral debate on Friday October 15th at Oakwood Collegiate starting at 7:00 pm.

The four remaining front-runners have all agreed to attend, namely: Rob Ford, Joe Pantalone, Rocco Rossi and George Smitherman.

Also participating in the debate will be Canadians Advocating Political Participation (CAPP) and the Toronto Association of BIAs (TABIA).

A panel of 3 representing various community interests will pose questions to the candidates for response and debate. There will also be some time allotted to questions from the floor.

St Clair Ave West is perhaps best known of late as the prototype for the Transit City initiative and so some questions regarding transit issues and community consultation are to be expected.

The mayoral debate will be preceded by a debate amongst the candidates seeking election as councillor for Ward 17 Davenport which is being organized by SWRC.

MyStClair.com is a community website that represents the neighbourhoods from Yonge to Gunn.

The Regal Heights Village BIA represents the merchants on St Clair Ave West from Westmount Ave (just east of Dufferin) to Oakwood.

The St Clair West Revitalization Committee (SWRC) was initially an Employment Revitalization Area (ERA) established by the City but continues on as an informal community organization.

CAPP is a non-partisan group that emerged from the 2008 prorogation protests which, as its name suggests, advocates for greater political participation.

TABIA is the umbrella organization representing the City's 71 BIAs comprising over 27,000 local businesses.

Oakwood Collegiate is located on the southwest corner of St Clair Ave West and Oakwood.
