FELLOW MARATHONERS!!!
This email is to inform you of a few things before tomorrow...
1) We will hold your film until 12noon! After the themes have been given out, we will release them to the waiting list of people registering onsite. Therefore please be sure you be there before noon. "come early and avoid the rush!" We'll be ready for you at 10:30am...
2) The meeting place is the Metro Hall - Rotunda. if you come in for the 55 John St. you must walk around the reception to the back of the building. We'll be in the middle of the rotunda
3) If you chose to pay onsite, please bring cash, preferably exact change to pay your fee. Thanks
4)This winter we are introducing "Warm Up Spots": Venues (bars and coffeshops) spread out around toronto's landscape. This is a place for you to come in and be ecognized for you participation by receiving a gift of a discount, and providing you some place to warm up from the mighty winter. check them out by <clicking here>
5) Lastly please remember that you will be shooting out in the cold, and should consider a few point about issues with shooting in very cold
weather:
- Battery Life Reduction: try to store your camera/extra batteries in your jacket/pocket to keep warm from cold - Condensations can form when you bring your equipment back into a warm room. Then, if you proceed back out into the cold again that
condensed water can freeze and prevent your camera from operating. An
interesting trick is to place your camera into a
plastic bag, push out most of the air and seal it with a tie before
bringing it into a warm location. This way your camera can acclimate to
room temperature slowly and any condensation will form
on the outside of the plastic bag and not on or in your camera. - Please AVOID rewinding your film out in the cold, allow for the camera/film to be room temperature before hand... if not you ricks cracking your film.
I'll go over these again tomorrow just in case, here are a few links you can check out: http://www.urbanvancouver.com/node/3229 http://www.ospreyblogs.com/wordpress/?p=367#comment-28630
