About the Toronto Photo Marathon
This is the 8th running of the Toronto Photo Marathon. It takes place at different times of the year to capture the four seasons. This year was the summer run.

Photographers gather at the starting line on the Saturday where they are provided with a 12 exposure roll of film. Then precisely at noon they receive a card with 12 themes. This year's themes were:

  1. Local Food
  2. Streetcar Right-of-Way
  3. Super Hero
  4. Ant
  5. Home Sweet Home
  6. Shadow
  7. Music
  8. Old School
  9. Temptation
  10. Indigo
  11. Authority
  12. Favourite Thing

The marathoners then have 24 hours to shoot each theme - in sequence - one shot for each theme. The films are returned the following day by noon.

Then a few weeks later everyone gets together along with friends and others to vote on which photos best captured each theme. The winners are announced that same evening.

About Peirson Ross
Rich Terfry of CBC Radio 2 says "I haven't encountered it as often as I'd like but here's a guy who seems to embody music. Another way to describe it is that music takes over his body. It's as if he can't help himself. It's an impressive thing to listen to and an equally impressive thing to watch"
